I love the start of a new year! We all have New Year’s Resolutions, but I think you should consider making some cleaning resolutions for 2018. Cleaning should not be a second job and there are a number of time-saving strategies to keep the mess to a minimum and keep your weekend afternoons free from all-day cleaning marathons. Here are a few of my favorite ways to make cleaning easier in the New Year.

Manage the mail. Even in our e-mail age, most still get plenty of snail mail. Open it over a wastebasket so that anything unwanted quickly disappears.

Use a Microwave Cover. Even covering with a paper towel prevents food from splattering on the inside of your microwave. It’s much easier to replace dirty paper towel than the inside of
your microwave.

10 minutes a day keeps the junk put away. Do a daily walkthrough. Put toys away, hang up coats, sweaters, towels, etc. and put away anything that wandered out during the day.

Do one load of laundry every day. Avoid an overflowing, overwhelming amount of laundry to take care of over the weekend.  Do one load a day, fold it while you relax and watch TV. Voila!
